Russian Automotive Market Research
On February 15-16, 2010 in Saint-Petersburg the first event of the year in the Russian automotive sector took place, AutoInvest, which was the 4th annual international conference for attraction of investments into automotive component production.
AutoInvest has already been gathering representatives of all key players of the sector, regional authorities, industry associations, OEM, component manufacturers, experts for four years. In 2010 more than 200 participants from 15 countries and 11 Russian regions took part in AutoInvest.
Such relevant topics as macroeconomics and development of the automotive sector, component sector and modern material development concepts in Russia up to 2020, local supplier competitive growth, Russian investment sites were discussed at AutoInvest 2010 conference. In the course of the discussion, experts came to the conclusion that in some years the automotive cluster of Saint-Petersburg will already have become the leader of the Russian automotive industry: it is planned that by 2014 plants located in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region will produce more than 800 thousand vehicles annually. Considering the market growth the total volume of investments into the Russian automotive cluster will possibly amount to 12 to 15 billion Euros during 2-3 years. For investor support, considerable measures will be taken on the part of the government as well. Thus, Saint-Petersburg authorities are at the moment revising a package of tax concessions for automotive investors towards possible extension of concession periods and reduction of investment volume threshold.
In the course of the conference, the Government Program of the Automotive Industry Development up to 2020 was discussed. Special attention was paid to development of the automotive sector of the Northwest Federal District. The Concept of the Automotive Sector Development in the Northwest Federal District will be based on general results of this discussion.
In addition to plenary meetings and discussion, the highly topical program included the master class Conduct of Business in the Russian Automotive Sector: Tax and Customs Respects, Specificity of Transactions and workshop Nanotechnologies for the Automotive Industry.
AutoInvest 2010, the 2nd international specialized exhibition was organized as part of the conference. Authorities of Leningrad, Vologda and Kaluga regions demonstrated capabilities of their regions for organization of vehicle component producing units and technoparks to participants in the Russian Investment Sites section. AR&T, KraussMaffei, MIT and many other companies showed their developments in the Latest Developments and Accessories section.
Special attention was paid to covering the possibilities for business and the pattern of implementation of the Government Program of Old Vehicle Utilization with an excursion to an auto recycling site.
