Renault partners of AvtoVAZ has developed a program of the Russian automotive giant recovery from extreme crisis.
Christian Esteve, Renault-Nissan alliance Vice President, AvtoVAZ board member, has declared that at the moment the business plan is being agreed upon by Renault, Nissan and AvtoVAZ shareholders.
The business plan is the principal condition for receipt of government aid required for liquidation of a 38 billion ruble debt. After it is approved, AvtoVAZ will have to agree with creditor banks the debt restructuring conditions.
The business plan will have been finally worked out by the middle of March and further investments to the production depend on it.
Establishment of a component supplier pool is one of the plan items. According to the Renault-Nissan management at the moment only 20% of Russian suppliers can produce components of high quality at an acceptable price. As explained by Christian Esteve, some new JV between Russian AvtoVAZ component manufacturers and Renault suppliers can be established in Russia.
“35 foreign companies are negotiating with Russian component manufacturers on establishment of joint ventures. Where it is possible, we’ll try to achieve that west suppliers will come and establish JV with Russian companies”, he explained.
At that, part and assembly suppliers for a new Sollers – Fiat JV can also be the same.
Renault and Nissan at the meeting on February 19 already approved the future model line-up on the B0 (Renault Logan) chassis, which is planned to be manufactured in Togliatti. On the plant, two models under the Lada brand, two Renault and one Nissan model will be produced.
As for Lada models, they will be a seven-seater MPV and a commercial pickup, the production will be launched in 2012 already. As for Renault and Nissan brands it is not known with certainty what models will be manufactured.
The vehicles will be produced on a production line of the 360 thousand autos a year capacity. Yoshiro Kayanagi, former Director of Nissan Indian LCV department, will head this producing unit owned by AvtoVAZ.
State Corporation Rostekhnologii will invest about 1.5 billion US dollars in development of the production, Nissan – about 60 million, and Renault will provide technologies and equipment for 240 million Euros.

In March OJSC AvtoVAZ will increase production by 55.7% as compared to February due to the starting old car utilization program. Lada-Samara and 2105/2107 vehicles which fall within utilization will be manufactured daily on a double-shift basis.

Renault launches production and sales in Russia of a new Sandero hatchback. The vehicle is manufactured on Moscow Renault plant. Sales start on March 1, 2010. Renault Sandero hatchback will cost from 319 thousand rubles to 428 thousand rubles depending on configuration.

YAROVIT Motors plans by the end of 2012 to construct a plant in Saint-Petersburg for production of hybrid trucks. By the middle of the current year, development of the new truck will have been completed and its first pilot model will have been manufactured. The vehicle will be equipped with a hybrid engine, capable of operating on liquefied natural gas and petrol. Holland Nonox is developing the engine. Creation of all technologies required, including a universal chassis for manufacture of trucks of the capacity from 10 to 65 tons. They plan to produce 10-12 thousand trucks a year. The company intends to reach the full output in 2015.

More than 70 Russian companies confirmed their participation in the 1st Manzhouli Fair of Orders for Export to Russia, which will open on March 14, 2010 in Manzhouli /Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Northern China/. At the fair, all goods, which are in short supply in Russia, including vehicles and parts, components for agricultural vehicles etc., will be represented.
