Ban for import of cars with right-hand steering set in 2007 is not raised because of establishment of the Customs Union. The ban for import of KazTAG vehicles with right-hand steering remains in force because it is reasonable. Import of cars with right-hand steering falls within non-tariff regulation, that is why legal entities and individuals in the republic still have no right for import of such vehicles despite establishment of the Customs Union with the RF and Belorussia. Car import to Kazakhstan is regulated with the technical regulations adopted in the republic, which prohibits import of autos with right-hand steering.

80% of vehicles running in Azerbaijan do not comply with the Euro-3 and Euro-4 standards. Baku mayor appealed for prohibition of operating vehicles of 10-15 years old, which have already depleted their resources.

In January 2010 3187 cars to the amount of $27593.1 thousand were imported to Azerbaijan against 5091 autos to the amount of $35751.5 thousand imported in January 2009. According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, during the period under consideration, import of vehicles and spare parts accounted for 14.29% of the total import volume of the republic ($363828.9 thousand). At that, vehicle and spare part import accounted for 60.78% of the January 2009 import. According to cargo customs declarations 1516 cars were imported to the amount of $15600.4 (a 2.1% increase on January 2009), according to customs pay-in slips, 1671 cars were imported to the amount of $11992.7 thousand. In 2009 Azerbaijan imported 63427 cars to the amount of $455887.3 thousand. According to customs declarations 28309 autos to the amount of $ 254426.3 thousand were imported, according to customs pay-in slips - 35118 vehicles to the amount of $ 201461 thousand.

According to the results of 2009, 12.5 thousand commercial vehicles were sold in Ukraine, which is a 67% decrease on 2008. Truck sales amounted to 5.2 thousand vehicles, which is a 72% decrease on 2008. The situation will be most probably the same in 2010.
