12.09.2014 / Antidumping investigation in respect of truck tires produced in China was launched

Russian Automotive Market Research

Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) launched antidumping investigation in respect of import of Chinese tires for trucks, buses, trolley buses and trailers. The reason for this was the appeal of the Belarusian Belshina, three companies of the holding Tatneft such as Nizhnekamskshina, Nizhnekamsk Plant of Truck Tires, Nizhnekamsk All Steel Tires Plant, and two plants of the holding Cordiant - Omskshina and Yaroslavl Tire Plant.

According to EEC, in 2011-2013 import of truck tires in countries of the Customs Union (CU) increased by 29.8% in quantitative terms, directly from China - by 36.3%, and the share of truck tires produced in the Customs Union countries decreased by 11.1%.

In order to compete with the Chinese import of tires, plants from CU countries had to reduce selling prices. With the increase in the production cost this led to the fall of profitability and earnings to negative values.
