AVTOVAZ intends to purchase assets of Avtovazagregat JSC, necessary for the manufacture of automobile seats and their pre-assembly, as well as for seat upholstery. Terms of the transaction and its cost are not disclosed. Currently there are subsidiaries on the territory of Avtovazagregat JSC — PoshivAvtovazagregat LLC, AvtovazagregatTrans LLC, AvtovazagregatPlast LLC, as well as a joint venture Eberspacher — Avtovazagregat exhaust systems. The last will not be purchased. Earlier AVTOVAZ turned to the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia with the application on the preliminary approval of the acquisition of the company assets. At the beginning of May 2015 Antimonopoly Service approved application for the purchase of 88.94% of fixed assets of Avtovazagregat JSC.

The American manufacturer of automotive components Johnson Controls closes down its two plants in Saint-Petersburg. The company launched production in Saint-Petersburg in 2005 and supplies car seats for GM and Ford.

Johnson Controls closes down the production because it worked mainly with GM, which froze the plant in Saint-Petersburg, and Ford, which reduces production, and cooperation with Nissan was negligible. When automotive industry recovers, the company may return, but the vacant place will be quickly occupied by other suppliers – Korean manufacturers of automotive components now think about coming to Saint-Petersburg.

Yaroslavl Motor Plant Autodiesel, part of GAZ Group, received certificates of compliance with Euro-5 on six-cylinder engines YAMZ-530. This enables to expand the export of vehicles, which are equipped with YAMZ-530 engines, in countries with high environmental requirements to operated vehicles.

The line-up of Euro-5 six-cylinder engines YAMZ-530 has improved technical and economic characteristics in terms of the oil and fuel consumption, extended power range (240 – 330 HP) and torque (900 – 1370 N. m.). Structurally, new YAMZ-530 engines are unified with Euro-4 analogues and compliance with more stringent environmental standards for six-cylinder models is achieved by using SCR system (selective catalytic reduction) and selective catalytic converter, which are installed on vehicles.

A Memorandum of intent concerning the sale of OAT Group to AVTOVAZ was signed. The transaction may be concluded before the end of this year. The matter concerns the purchase of all OAT plants, located in five regions: Vladimir, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Samara and Ryazan regions. Group enterprises produce more than 4 thousand types of components for the leading Russian and foreign automakers by full technological cycle. The total production exceeds 500 million auto parts a year. United Automobile Technologies Group is part of Oboronprom.

AVTOVAZ may spend up to 165 million dollars on the purchase of OAT and will possibly pay off with interest-free promissory notes with maturity no earlier than 2032.

14.05.2015 / Nokian Tyres compensates for decrease in sales in Russia by export development

In the first quarter Nokian Tyres, the plant producing tires in Vsevolozhsk of the Leningrad region, exported 54% of manufactured products. The production volume of the company fell by 12%. The total capacity of the enterprise is more than 15 million tires per year.

The company notes that increase in supplies from Russia was caused by the decline of the Russian automotive market. In addition, shipments outside Russia enable the tire manufacturer to maintain margins due to sales in Euros. However, in January-March 2015 sales of Nokian Tyres in the Russian market decreased almost 2-fold (by 45%) in terms of Euro (to 76.8 million Euros). Supplies to other CIS countries increased almost by 50% and made 3.9 million Euros.

At the end of summer of 2015 the production of parts for manual and automatic transmissions will be launched in a special economic zone Togliatti. The Japanese ATSUMITEC Toyota Tsusho Rus is one of the most active residents of the industrial cluster: construction of the plant started only in the middle of 2014 and now the company has brought equipment and mounts it. The company will produce preselectors used both in manual and automatic gear boxes.
