The first electric car, developed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, was presented in the Republic. Electric car is based on Geely sedan. Specifications have not been revealed yet. The electric car is equipped with a set of batteries that provide a range of 100-150 km.
According to Russian Automotive Market Research, in the first half of 2017 a total of 80.1 thousand cars were produced in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, which is a 91% increase on the similar period of 2016. The decline in car production was shown only by Belarus (-58.1%), where Geely and Zotye cars are produced.
According to the Union of Enterprises of Automobile Industry of Kazakhstan KazAvtoProm, in July 2017 sales of new cars in Kazakhstan increased by 29.1% and made 4033 units. Following results of the first seven months of 2017 residents of the Republic bought 22891 cars and light commercial vehicles – by 6.5% less than in the similar period of the last year.
Asia Auto plant in Kazakhstan launched serial production of a completely updated line-up of Skoda cars. The plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk began production of three new models – updated Rapid and Octavia liftbacks, as well as the third generation of Superb executive sedan.
