Car production remains the main driver of the Kazakhstan automotive industry. According to the Association of Kazakhstan Auto Business (AKAB), in 2018 Kazakhstan's enterprises produced 11 118 cars (+77.5%), 365 trucks (-3.2%), 135 buses (-5.6%) and 251 other special purpose vehicles.
AVTOVAZ opened the first four LADA Detal stores in Astana, Kostanay, Pavlodar and Shymkent (the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The Russian network of LADA Detal consists of more than 1400 sales points.
The Belarusian-British enterprise «Unison» and the Chinese Zotye International Automobile Trading signed an agreement on the organization of production of Zotye electric cars on the territory of Belarus.
The contract value of 560 million dollars provides for the organization of production of 30 thousand electric cars with a high localization level till 2022.
According to the Union of Enterprises of Automobile Industry of Kazakhstan KazAvtoProm, in May 2018 sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Kazakhstan grew by 36.3% and made 4993 units.
General Motors in Uzbekistan completes the production of Chevrolet Matiz sub-compact hatchback, which was produced in different countries since 1997. In accordance with the strategy for updating the model line-up, as well as moral and technical obsolescence of the model, in July 2018 the production of Matiz cars will be terminated.
